Ghost Riders In The Sky adapted the mmelody of
When Johnny Comes Marching Home, composed by Galway
born Patrick Sarsfield Gilmore. Stan Jones had a
problem getting his song accepted because of the
   melodic similarity.
it was also recorded by Chet Atkins, The Shadow's
Frankie Laine and, last though not least, Slim Whitman.
I sing this myself with my trio, "Tumbleweed". I believe
it to be the greatest cowboy song, as distinct from so
called Country And Western, ever written................
