"Livet i Finnskogarna" (Life In The Finnish Woods) is a Swedish song. The melody was written by Carl Jularbo. The lyrics were by Anna Myrberg, who wrote under the pseudonym of Svarta Masken (The Black Mask). Jularbo was one of Sweden's greatest accordionists and a prolific composer. He first recorded the song in 1913. The title of the songs refers to the "Finn forests" in Sweden (and Norway) to which Finns had migrated. There they eked out a living with swidden (slash-and-burn) agriculture in places where the local population could not survive. "Mocking Bird Hill" is an American song that was published in 1951 with words and music by Vaughn Horton. That same year it was a top ten hit for Patti Page and for Les Paul and Mary Ford. The melodies for "Livet i Finnskogarna" and "Mocking Bird Hill" are similar but not identical.
