Cuddles Hylin (4) RE: Hylin 25 Jan 08

Oh dear, I came over too fast without reading the page, because their voices were so wonderful. They really did touch me that deeply.

Sharon, this thread is for you then m'dear. I hope you're still singing your heart out.

And to Vicki, you are still blessed with an extraordinary beautiful voice, and lovely memories of your friend. I very much hope that you still sing your heart out too and that you get a huge supportive response from the folk world.

From Vicki and Sharon's Myspace page:

5th January 2008
"Hylin's music is now more meaningful to me than ever before.
Sharon passed away peacefully on 29th December, 2007.

She was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in July 2005 and given 6-9 months. We immediately decided to make a recording for our four children. In the spring of 2006, we recorded "Bins in the Lane" and launched it with all our family and friends at The Cluny in Newcastle.
Sharon grasped life with both hands. She fought for a newly available drug, Tarceva, which gave her good quality of life for 17 months. Along with her husband Brian, she completed the Great North Run in just over 2 hours.

She had a list and was ticking it regularly! She partied often, visited Rome with Brian, Daniel & Maeve, went skiing, climbed up mountains, flew a microlight and took everything in her stride.
Medical intervention aside, Sharon's attitude towards life prevailed and she lived with her disease for two and a half years.
Sharon's final days were spent peacefully at home with her family.
Hylin's music remains as part of her legacy, and along with our life-long friendship, I will treasure it always."
