Mudguard: Best Wishes from a youngster (66) who had the exact same surgery a short 2 months ago in Alberta (Canada). Giok's "IT" link above closely describes my own hospital experience. After the surgery, my surgeon explained there would be swelling and bruising which will subside in 3-4 weeks. He also said to watch for bleeding and infection. A pain killer may be required so a prescription will be written. The surgeon also said to have a laxative on hand as straining in the bathroom would undo his good work. No bathing is allowed for 2 weeks as it will loosen the surgical tape; only a very quick shower is permitted. He also stressed "Do not lift anything over 10 pounds for 6 weeks". Your doctor has probably explained all of this to you. It is important for a good recovery. My procedure was done as Day Surgery, wheeled into the operating room at 3:00pm and back home by 7:00pm. I am a Guest but read here often and am familiar with your contributions as well as the others in this thread. Again, my Best Wishes for an uneventful and speedy recovery. Norval
