Hi Peg,

You may have already been there but if you haven't Avebury and its stone circle is well worth a visit (I find it more impressive and certainly less crowded than Stonehenge). Just outside the village is Silbury Hill - a large man-made "mega" mound - as tall as the pyramids. When I first went there in the '70s (taking a day off from my undergrad studies) you could actually climb to the top. Last time couple of times I've been, however, it has been fenced off to protect it. The Red Lion - a thatch-roofed pub, is in the centre of the circle (as is most of the village) and has about 4 rooms for B&B. Just outside was a 17th century farm house which was also an excellent B&B.

Anyway, have a good time.

Regards Rana
