OK, so our little band is starting to get somewhere, and we've been invited to record a little tape on a friend's equipment. We're hoping to use it to get gigs at new places, as well as sell it to friends and fans. Our big question: if a song we want to do is not traditional, can we record it? Do we have to obtain explicit permission from the writer, production company, record company, whoever? And if so, how do we go about getting that permission? I wait with worms in my mouth (..."baited" breath...)
