Last November, when we had Liz Carroll & John Doyle in to play at the shop, there was a man in the audience they knew, and invited him up to do a song. His name was Dermot Somerville (of the bands Shanua and The Bodhran Brothers) and he proceeded to sing an unbelievably gorgeous version of "Raglan Road", which I somehow had got to the age of 32 without ever hearing before. I'm not ashamed to admit I had tears streaming down my face throughout the song (though to be fair, I'd just played the harp at the passing of a friend's wife a few days before, so was a little susceptible). I really recommend that everyone check out Dermot's version, which is on Shanua's album "The Butterfly Effect".
