Just to clarify my position on the teaching of religion as a subject (if indeed it is). I'd like all young people to be given the opportunity to discover the ways in which religion(s) shape the social and political environment in which we live. It might make for a more tolerant world. What I don't like is the way in which it can be taught from a specific perspective, potentially as a form of indoctrination. I have first hand experience of this. I'd actually prefer to have philosophy as a compulsory subject. Blue skies Ged
