I play finger style 12-string guitar. I think the 12-string is the best acoustic instrument to practice on, because it is harder. On the left hand, bar chords, pull-offs and hammers are more difficult. And on the right hand, it takes a lot of practice to accurately play between the narrower courses of the 12-string, and more finger strength and control to attack two strings, instead of one. The good thing about a 12-string guitar is that they're easier to sing with. With all those strings, even a poor singer like myself, can sometimes be in tune with one of them. The guitar I play is a National steel-bodied 12-string Delphi. I play blues and ragtime, and when I'm on top of it, this guitar is something to hear.
