Thanks for the response, I didn't expect it. Many stimulating ideas for me here. Yes, I concede that most songs can be handled by either gender, though I can't help feeling foolish when I sing something like "Arthur McBride", so I never subject others to it. (I can't help but put on a pretend "blokey" voice - you know how you just can't imagine a song any other way - the creative vocals scare the neighbourhood cats). I suppose one must feel comfortable with a song to enjoy it and to sing it effectively.
