Helena's bluegrass/folk scene is pretty splintered these days. We used to get together every Thursday, but that hasn't been the case recently. You might want to stop at Piccolo's Music in the small mall across from the Capitol Hill Mall (the only one in town) and find out what's happening when you hit town. Ask for Barb, she's the mopver and shaker there, and can sometimes throw together a jam on a few minutes notice. There is a new Folk/World Music/Blues festival scheduled for four stages in downtown Helena, near the "gulch" on the weekend of June 16, 17, 18. This is its first year and it might be great and it might be god-awful. Hopefully, the first! Our group is scheduled to play for an hour from 1 to 2:00 on Sat. the 17th.
