Would it be pedantic to mention that there is no darkside of the moon? The moon rotates at the same rate it orbits, ie it always shows the same face to earth (tidal effect). But all points on the moon are lit at one time or another. The only ecception to this was thought to be Mercury, but we now know it does rotate at a different (slightly) rate to its orbit!
