Hmmm - all I know is that it was a 'new' song c.1965 and the Dumpledores were known tohave written it.They were a quartet that included Bob Gale, but also an older man whose name I can't rtemember but he was a teacher, probably a music teacher, as Beaminster School. I think he had a hand in writing it as well as Bob, but it may well be that, as Wolfhound suggests, it just sort of grew from already existing jokey verses.
