Work hours that leave people knackered when they come home, just flob in front of the telly with ready-made TV chef sponsored crap and cheap supermarket plonk. Collapse of local businesses because everyone shops once a week in Tesco and once a month at Megahell, hence local identity and social contact lost. Kids left to minders when they are small, unattended when older because both partners (if they are still together) are working all hours to pay the mortgage. Even if you want to go to the pub, there's no public transport after early eveing in most areas, so you have to drive if it's any distance.
