I listened to the first edition of the programme a few weeks ago because I wanted to hear the interview with Judi Dench. I haven't managed to listen to it since. He announced on that first programme that people could email suggestions for little-heard tracks and the reason for their choice, to be then called up to talk about them on the radio. I sent mine in - not "sentimental pap" - which explains why they've not contacted me, then ! Are people picking songs and saying things like they do on that awful, sickly "Love Songs" programme ? A much better bet, I reckon, is Elaine Paige's programme on Sunday afternoons - she does play all the songs right through, doesn't talk over them, and has some really interesting guests and conversations. You have to be fond of show tunes, though, to enjoy that programme, because that is what you get. Completely different, but another good show, if you don't know about it, is Russell Brand on Saturday nights. Completely loopy but lovely. - jeanie
