Greetings: The Peoples' Voice Cafe, one of New York City's premier folk and acoustic venues, has long been housed in the Workmen's Circle Building at 45 East 33rd Street in Midtown Manhattan. Unfortunately, the building has recently been sold and the Workmen's Circle has until the close of business June 30 to vacate the premises. That leaves the Peoples' Voice Cafe out in the cold. It's currently looking for a new site to reopen in September, and the prospects look good that it will find one nearby. But one thing is certain: the three remaining shows this season will be the last ones at the current location. They will take place Saturday night, May 3, 10, and 17, each beginning at 8:00 o'clock. Doors open at 7:30. The May 3 show will feature me and my friend Joel Landy, the May 10 show will be a tribute to the late Dave Van Ronk, and the May 17 show will feature the New York City Labor Chorus. Suggested admission is $12 for the general public and $9 for Peoples' Voice Cafe or Workmen's Circle members, but you are welcome to pay whatever you can afford. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Please click here for more information. Be there! --- Steve
