Fundraising concert for the Dent Folk Festival

The Dent Folk Festival is holding a fundraising concert featuring one of the finest voices in the folk world, Roy Bailey, plus support from The Macaroon Band. The event is being hosted by Kendal College, Creative Arts Centre on Friday the 9th of May. The concert starts at 8.00pm. Tickets priced £8.00 and can be reserved by sending an email dentfolkfestival@talk21.com

Roy Bailey has a large, widespread and very loyal following worldwide. He began his singing career in a skiffle group in 1958. For 50 years he has sung in folk clubs, concerts and festivals the length and breadth of England,
Scotland and Wales and from Sydney to Vancouver, from Cape Town to Stockholm.

see www.roybailey.net for more info about Roy

Opening the concert will be new local outfit The Macaroon Band. The line-up is two fiddles and piano, with occasional percussion, accordion and Galician bagpipes. The music is predominantly Scottish, Appalachian and Cumbrian, with a distinct Shetland feel due in part to the solid rhythmic piano played in the style of the great Violet Tulloch, and a mixture of flying fiddle tunes - traditional, quirky, and full of life.
