John McDermott does this on his war themed CD REMEMBRANCE 1999 - I picked it up used for 50 cents and it's grown on me over the years. I used to hold that he was just a fair voiced fellow exploiting the nostsalgia market but I've changed my mind. He's got a pleasant enough voice and on this CD he brings together songs about War, against war and so on from The American Civil War forward. there is a healthy dose of Schmaltz in some of his choices and interpretations but Roses of Picardy. The Flowers of the Forest and The Faded Coat of Blue are quite nice. Look for this CD in the used bins - it's certainly well worth the 50 cents I paid for it!
