I'm sure it will not have escaped folks attention that it is almost 25 years since we lost Stan in that aircraft fire in Cincinnati, on his way back to Toronto from the Kerriville Folk Festival in Texas. It is gratifying that his songs and music have grown in popularity over two and a half decades. I was going to add 'far beyond his wildest dreams'...but Stan was a big guy with a huge heart and big dreams and ideas flowed from him. As many will tell you, he was an amazing individual to be around and was generous with his hospitality and his music. I miss his bear hugs and have his "Hush yer clabberjaw", to a heckler at the Bermuda Folk Club, still ringing in my ears..... The sight and sound of Stan Rogers, singing and playing those wonderful Grit Laskin guitars, will live with me all my days, and I'm grateful I had the chance to witness the man and his music. 25 years on......
