I had some experience of "the great Bob Davenport" when I ran a club way back. My booked guest was ill, and I was offered BD by the agent - I didn't want him, but at three hours notice I was stuck. So he came, sat in the bar until he was on, spoke to no-one, didn't respond with more than a grunt when I spoke to him. The performance was stereotypical "Geordie-away-from-home". I don't bad-mouth people much, but in this case.... Or as the expression goes, I wouldn't........if he was on fire.
