The Steve Goodman song is called Vegematic, Mag. I always though of it as 'Six Flags Over Burbank,' so I looked up those words in Altavista. The site below says that Shel Silverstein wrote the lyrics. The focus seems to be consumerism rather than technological anxiety - unless it's a fear of falling asleep in front of the TV. Falling asleep in front of the TV is not usually frightening unless you drop acid and wake up not knowing where you are. Then the TV can be such a pain. Best to not fall asleep when you drop acid.
