I've co-authored two new verses for Phil Ochs's song I AIN'T MARCHIN' ANYMORE.

(Intended to replace the last, "current events" verse).

Now the Congressmen are screaming as they close the Army base,
Guantanamo squats on the Cuban shore,
Call it "Peace" or call it "Treason,"
Call it "Love" or call it "Reason,"
But I ain't marchin' any more.

(Intended as an additional verse, probably just before the last, "current events" verse)

I fought in the battle to free Kuwait,
From the scourge of our ally from before.
Our oil was imperiled,
So said the Sunday Herald;
But I ain't marchin' any more.

Both of these are by Jesse Weinstein & Nancy Fuller, written in 2008. Released under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported, i.e. you can do whatever you want with this as long as you mention our names as authors.

Interestingly, the RUS version of this song replaces "labor leader" in the last verse with "congressmen"; I hadn't known the original till I saw it here. Ah, the ellisions of RUS...

A mudcat gnome should probably link this thread to the DT entry linked above.

I look forward to other folks using this thread to post more new verses for "I Ain't Marchin' Anymore"...
    I crosslinked to the Digital Tradition entry, as requested; but there's a conflict because the song is already linked to the Phil Ochs group.
