The practice amongst the Romans of going round old Mudcat threads (in those days, for technical reasons, they were mainly engraved on lumps of stone} and carving away the names of members of the previous regime who were no longer persona very grata. More recent regimes have used the same system, often carving away the actual people for added security.

Recalling the way that the thread Re More Session Rudeness had disappeared after no more than a gruff word from Big Mike, I sat down tonight to examine its love child Closing Threads, and was surprised to be unable to find it in the recent list. So I went back with Holmesian craft and found it through Charley O'Neill's listing. Its final message to the people of the world was timed 5.21 PM 18th June. Yet nothing appears on the current list between 5.19 and 5.28. All trace is gone. And did the last message constitute Big Mike's last warning to his Naughty People? No, just a slightly incomprehensible comment from Houston Diamond about people plugging in too many microwaves.

What is happening here? Are the writers of the threads disappearing as well as the messages? Will this message ever appear? Is big Mike and his band of Long Lankins and Bold Nevisons even now closing in on poor Suffolk Miracle?
