I worked with the Spinners in the early days of the revival. Cliff was a gentle man and a pleasure to know. The Spinners did a great deal to open the minds of the general public to a music they were not used to hearing, thereby opening avenues for those of us starting out on the road of making a living from our music. It has never been fashionable with me to mock their contribution.
