Gosh, this time has flown past! I just wanted to let those of you who were interested know that, after a traumatic, painful difficult six months, it seems that Hollie has shaken of the baddies. She's had her last dose of chemotherapy and, this week, has her final blood tests to check that its done the job - her oncologist is confident that it has. She's lost most of her hair and she's been ill for most of her treatment. Her boyfriend from Malta, Nick, came over and spent the best part of the period living at Helen's. He went back to Malta a couple of weeks ago, exhausted by it all but he's been fantastic support. He's aged 19 and has the maturity of someone twice his age. Hollie was distraught at him leaving but understands what a support he's been and how he needed a break - they've been in contact and seem to have patched things up. She has already boooked her ticket back to Malta and Helen will be going with her to help her settle in. Helen was so impressed with the way Hollie was treated that she's organised a charity concert to raise funds for the haematology unit at the Royal Shrewsbury hospital. Rapsquillion (one of Shropshire's finest folk bands!) are topping the bill and there's a raffle - just in case anyone's interested! Thank you to everyone who responded to the original post, when it felt like our hearts were being ripped out. Hollie kept the print out of the mails with her and I know they helped her, as well as Helen and me. And, in the meantime, my son and his partner have presented me with a granddaughter (Lily, who was introduced to the world last week), so I'd better start worrying! Phew, made it!
