Well, I'm definitely White Bread for Obama, so I guess that's supposed to make me a middle-class progressive. But I live in farm and ranch country and I believe people ought to be able to own guns and ought to use them responsibly. The semi-automatic weapons and the cop-killer ammo? Not really ...

I even understand, though I don't agree with, the idea that the death penalty ought to be reserved for particularly heinous crimes. If raping and murdering babies doesn't fit that bill, I don't know what does.

I agree with Clark, too. It's not that being a prisoner of war doesn't matter, or that McCain's patriotism is in question, it's just not a good criterion for being president. Why is that so outrageous? Lots of guys have gotten shot down over enemy territory and thrown in tiger cages or p.o.w. camps for several years. Does that make each of them presidential material? I'm not trying to denigrate McCain's experience -- I actually used to like and respect him and thought at one time that I might be able to support him -- but it's a leap of logic that I just don't understand ...
