I did have the privilege of meeting Oliver at both Parkgate Folk Club and Chester Folk Festival in 2006, when he was with James Keelaghan and High McMillan. I strongly recommended several friends of mine in Devon go and see them at Dartmouth later on their tour. This was was the reaction to one of them to Oliver. "He was one of the most exciting fiddle players I've ever seen! The SOUNDS that he got out of the violin! And he's about 6' 4" or taller....He played a tune called Field Of Stars from his new CD, and you could have heard a pin drop when he finished! James was sitting down during the song with his eyes tight shut...and you could tell that he was far away with the music!" Yes, I think she's got Oliver spot on there. Camino is a beautiful sounding CD, recorded in all the ambient spaces Oliver discovered on his travels through Spain and France.
