Come now friends here met in worship,
Raise a song of thanks and praise.
Thanks for memory, thanks for friendship,
Thanks for life and length of days.
First we met in war and darkness,
Little choice but join the fight.
Now for years of hope and freedom,
Praise the Lord of peace and light.

In those days of warring madness -
Toile and sacrifice an care.
Yet we found a youthful gladness,
In the life we had to share.
Working for a common purpose,
Knowing hat we had to do.
Joined in life and tears and laughter,
What a comradeship we knew.

Sixty years of growth and living,
Separate us from the war.
Aging also brings forgiving,
Time can heal the deepest sore.
If our children face a future,
Built on justice, free from fear.
Praise the God who called to service
Those of us now gathered here.
