When I saw the thread title and fourty odd responses already I stopped before opening the thread and made up a short list. Then I thought if I had to name but one of them for this thread which it would be and came up with "Joy of living". Yes, BAZ, this song did the same to me as it did to you. I first heard it sung live in London by an old man with a nearly failing voice and I started crying at once. The old man was Ewan McColl. I'll never forget that. It is on a Ewan McColl LP called Items of News. All other songs of my list have been mentioned except Scraps of Paper by E. Bogle. Wolfgang
