Hi Liz, sorry you are having such a hard time of it. I was just checking in to get some inspiration from this little band, and saw it was rough going.

I have managed to get 24 lbs off since January (what is that, 4 stone?). Its now very slow going at this juncture but that's probably due to backsliding.
We have done very well with a low-carb program at our house, after reading in Gary Taubes book about how these days we are just getting WAY too many carbohydrates. Our poor bodies think it is perpetual harvest time and they are busily packing away stores for winter. The low-fat plans just seem to make it harder on a lot of us.

Anyway, as far as nitty-gritty ideas, we are trying to build meals like this:

breakfasts are either a serving of meat (butcher-made sausage or leftover ham) and high-fiber low-carb toast (actually tastes like normal whole wheat); or a round of sugar-free yogurt with fruit and Fiber One and maybe a few nuts (we call this dish Nuts and Twigs)

Lunches are salads or low-carb sandwiches or wraps, with veggie sticks dipped in ranch dressing or whatever, maybe a small tomato. Fruit we limit to only berries or melons, they are bona fide low-carb.

Dinners we do normal meats, with a salad in summer or homemade soup in the winter; and a non-starchy vegetable like broccoli, squash, greens, carrots, okra, ratatouille.   A good reliable is steamed broccoli and sliced carrots, buttered with lemon-pepper. And we've expanded our repertoire of dinner salads.
For pasta craving, we either use a tiny amount in a casserole or have found ways to work shredded zucchini or chopped sauteed summer squash into the dishes we used to use pasta in, I'll post a recipe if anybody cares.

Started making homemade bran crackers to go with cheese; snacks need to be cheese and nuts mostly, and there are a few low-carb granola bars and fiber cookies out there, hard to find. Sugar free yogurts and ice-creams and jellos when necessary, and berries and whipped cream are legal.

Anyway, whatever you do, hang in there and hope things start breaking your way in a hurry.
