The information I have is from Tony Davies (Spinners). He says that this was written by a girl/woman from Leeds by the name of McIntyre. The sleeve note just gives her surname and he doesn't remember her first name. I'm told by Tony that she was involved with union / labour activities in the 60's early 70's. The song was on the "Not Quite Folk" album. (Fontana STL5495) It was actually called "Kick the Cat" but I sing it as "Status" Jim
