In Boccaccio's Decameron, one of the stories is about Federigo Alberighi and Monna Giovanna, the former being a falconer. A few years ago, I set the tale as a very long song (I think it runs about 13 minutes). You can find a lead sheet with full lyrics and melody here; I haven't yet recorded it. Here's how it begins:
When Federigo was a young and foolish knight, his fortune was not great. In Florence he'd a handsome, modest house; outside of town, a small estate. And with a hopeless love for Monna Giovanna, how fiercely did his young heart burn! Such love this chaste and virtuous wife would neither acknowledge nor return.
