Inspired by my own genealogical research, I wrote the lyrics to An Emigrant's Daughter as a poem. Later they morphed into a song when I adapted them to the melody of The Grenadier and the Lady. The song tells the true story of the death at sea of the daughter of my great great great grandfather, during the family's voyage from County Tyrone, Ireland to Canada in 1842. http://members.shaw.ca/tunebook/emigdau.htm
