I want to call attention to a couple of items from this year's program. The Italian group "Discanto" are coming and will almost certainly be the first time our folk community has heard them. They are from the Abruzzo region on the East (Adriatic)coast of Italy, straight east of Rome. They play and sing a brilliant repertoire of traditional stuff, featuring in particular the "Zampogna" (Italian bagpipes) and powerful, real old style vocal harmony. There are 5 of them and they are a knockout, we are thrilled to have them. Second, we are pleased to have one of Ireland's finest traditional singers in the person of Len Graham. John Roberts & Tony Barrand will receive the 2008 Eisteddfod Award for distinguished service (and of course perform in their usual brilliant way). The full staff can be found at www.eisteddfod-ny.org and the program for the weekend will be up on the website soon. Check it out. . . .pretty tough to beat. Jerry E
