Like my McGrath namesake I first encountered John in the 60s at the CSH guitar classes and The Cellar Folk Club where he was a regular guest of his friends Jack and Margaret King. When I started booking folk acts for my Youth Club John was a regular who always gave us a great night. I hadn't seen or thought of him for many years but the sadness of the news is balanced with the good memories that have returned.
