I am not certain if Mary Mack would qualify for a Celtic song or not, but was certainly well known in many of the Celtic countries. It is upbeat, tells a story, has humor and can be joined in by all on the chorus. It is simply a great singer, as I like to call songs that let a singer sing with all of the gusto and imagination one can muster.
