Hey Mudcat people! This thread is a follow-up to the Montreal Counterculture discussion that was started a while back. I'd like to ask some questions of those who were involved in the 'scene' in Montreal during the Sixties. First of all: many of those who posted to the counterculture thread mentioned Expo 67. So my question is this: what was your experience of this major international event? Did you join the hordes at Man & His World, or did you 'experience' it vicariously throughout other spaces in the city? Question 2: What do you remember as the major issues that concerned you at this time? I'm thinking on many levels here: personally, locally, nationally, and internationally. Did you consider yourself political or not? Q3: Did you read the alternative press at all? Underground newspapers, radical journals, etc.? If so, which ones? Where did these come from, and where did you get your hands on them. What was your opinion of these various publications? Q4: What kinds of music were you listening to at the time? Where did you go to listen to music (both live and recorded). With whom did you listen? And a related question: do you remember which local groups caught your attention? How did you hear about these groups? Q5: I'd really like to know more about the Hare Krishna temple. Anyone got some dirt on that?? Thanks in advance everyone! Best, The Lorax.
