Cheapest way round this is to buy an older MOT failure LR/Discovery that starts and runs well, and use it as a means of getting to and from your road vehicle. There are lots of them around. Off road they require no MOT, Road Fund Licence or Insurance. Look in the local freebie or 'bargain ads', and spend no more than £500. We've used three such Discos (more comfy and less draughty than tin box utility LRs) over 15 years on similar terrain with a half mile farm track, steep in places, and have never had any problem.
