If you get an old issue of the foxfire 3 book it will show you the proper way to do the head on this style banjo. Very good section on banjo building. Also instead of nylon strings you might search for Nyl-gut strings. they are supposed to be synthetic gut. I've heard some good about them on some of the banjo sites but don't have any first hand experience as there is not a dealer near my home but they can be ordered from the web. I believe the maker is a company called Aquilar? Hope this is helpful. BHSC
