And of course it was a very good song, especially as it included the line "I'm not suggesting there's any kind of a plot, everyone knows there's not". Or something like that. Like you say, though, it was written 40 years ago and the social landscape of Britain has changed a little since then. Sure, there's still privilege and inequality, but the divisions of class and the restrictions in social mobility aren't the same.
