It's the Queen's English. "England's second-largest city has decided to drop apostrophes from all its street signs, saying they're confusing and old-fashioned" The're only confusing to the uneducated and there is no-one less educated than he who is proud of his ignorance. Old fashioned they are. No harm in that.
