Ralph Butts Clancey Bros. and Makem poem (8) RE: Clancey Bros. and Makem poem 10 Apr 98

For those who have not heard him, Liam Clancy is just about the best poetry reader I have ever heard. No matter whose poem (or spoken song lyric) he is reading, the feeling he can impose is incredible.

I recommend a wonderful two-volume video set from the Olympia Theater in Dublin (1991, I think) in which he does several, Yeats and Behan included. Sometimes it's just a little snippet between songs.

His "Pegasus" (Patrick Kavenagh) is spell-binding - always brings tears.

"An Irish Airman Forsees His Death" (Yeats) reduces me to rubble.

See it, hear it - you'll see why..........Tiger
