Anyone who hasn't yet seen Richard Thompson--go when you can. Before Sunday, I hadn't had the pleasure. For over two hours, he performed songs from his Fairport days through his current work. He's a powerful singer and a truly great guitarist. He often plays with a band, but the other night he was alone with an acoustic guitar. At times, he sounded like a rock and roll band, and I like rock bands. He closed with a rousing solo version of "Substitute," best known as a Who song. A great show. --Michael Scully
