Patrick-Costello Banjo Tab for the blind (2) Banjo Tab for the blind 17 Mar 09

A cool addtion to the Braille-Friendly Banjo Tab project! Mike in Maquoketa surprised me this morning with a batch of tunes from The Outlaws & Scalawags Songbook in braille-friendly format.

The Outlaws & Scalawags Songbook is a collection of songs about villains, assassins, hoboes, bad boys, badder girls and other folks you wouldn’t want to bring home to meet mom arranged for frailing banjo. It is available in print as well as freely available under a Creative Commons license.

Mike writes:

Just thought I’d let you know where I was at in converting this. I didn’t get started very promptly, but if I can keep my pace up I should get through in the next week or so. I have the first five songs finished, they are attached. Thanks for all you do.

Banks of the Ohio, Captain Kidd, Texas Rangers, Gypsy Girl and Worried Man Blues!

So far Tim from Korea, Pat from Michigan and Ytske from Sweden have taken the time to jot down tunes with this alternative tab system.

A Book Of Five Strings has also been converted!

We are quickly getting to the point where we will need a separate web page to keep this project organized. If you want to get involved in any way please don’t hesitate to contact me.
