GUEST,Becky, Tucson, AZ Help: Hardy & Bonaparte (5) Hardy & Bonaparte 17 Jul 00

In Thomas Hardy's "The Trumpet Major" the soldiers sing (omitting his diacriticals):

When lawyers strive to heal a breach, And parsons practise what they preach; Then Boney he'll come pouncing down, And march his men on London Town!

Rollicum rorum, tollollorum, Rollicum rorum, tollollay.

(etc. - 4 verses offered, a total of 14 referred to!)

Was this Hardy's own creation, or (and?) is there a melody anyone knows of?
