The original Village Pump Folk Club started about 40 years ago and, after hosting almost all the better UK and visiting international performers, developed into the major Village Pump Festival. The original Pump building had got into a very neglected state and a group of the original organisers – older but no wiser – decided to restore it to its former state of planned dilapidation and re-open for communal performance use. As part of this we are starting a regular Friday folk club based on the original scheme of putting on the best performers that the size of the venue can support. Already booked are Martin Carthy, Show of Hands, Les Barker, Martin Simpson and several local singers and players. Further details on our web-site http://www.villagepump.org.uk Pete MacGregor
