If he ever escapes again, place a wastepaper basket in the lowest part of your house ( altitude -wise- not the most decadent).Build a stairway of books to a height over the rim of the basket. Place food on each step and on the last step place the food right on the edge closest to the basket.make sure the basket has newspaper or something soft in it. The hamster will inevitably eat the last bit of food and tumble into the basket. This really works. I,ve caught escaped hamsters several times with this method.
