'Some events are beyond art, especially popular cinema, and re-writing them for anctors in wigs and costume was pathetic. It invites pastiche for the tastelessness of the original film. ' Which events are you specifically referring to? Either way, surely revisiting such events as the holocaust, the rise and fall of the 3rd Reich etc through film and other art forms, is sometimes the only way to communicate the seriousness of such things to a new generation. History lessons and documentaries just dont do it for some people, and not having films like this will reduce the understanding of the events that could so easily repeat themselves. Whether people should profit from such films is a different matter.
