I've had a lot of little problems recently. Big things good - my vendor has got a place to move to. My neighbour's daughter wants to move into my place. But the little things are out to get me.
The cistern began to leak around the handle. Called plumber - didn't come when arranged. I had moved everything for clear access to the cistern, and to the stopcock downstairs. Put on back burner, but left everything out of place.
I got bees in the wall by the bathroom, where they can't be extracted, and where they are maximum nuisance - do you fancy being exposed to exploring workers while not fully dressed? I had to get them killed, unfortunately. Then the bee man came backa week later to block the hole they had used (for the second time) to prevent future destruction. While blocking the whole, he knelt on the windowsill by the cistern.
I saw a mouse on the landing, running from my bedroom to - who knows where? It disappeared. With no holes, not even pencil sized. I was gooing down to my Dad's clearing, so could not use traps, or poison, or call someone in. I got some sound generators, and an electromagnetic device to flood the wires with itchy feelings. And moved everything off the floor to allow free passage to the sound, boxed all the food, emptied the airing cupboard - no trace of the little piddles and droppings I saw last time.
Now the fridge has stopped working properly. Motor running all the time, but not cold enough. I've moved all the frozen stuff to my Dad's old freezer.
And the cistern has a leak, and has dripped water into the kitchen. The plumber has had a gippy tummy and is sending a locum on Thursday. Meanwhile, the split is covered with duck tape, and I've hitched up the ballcock so I only fill the thing when I need. No visitors.
The gremlins have also struck the car, killing a headlamp bulb the day after a service.
