The late Richard Hayward - an actor, writer and ballad singer from Northern Ireland sang the song in one of his films in 1938.

Richard made many records during his career (mainly for the Beltona label) and also claimed to have written a number of songs (e.g., The Humour is on Me Now).

Whether he laid claim to Let Him Go, Let Him Tarry, I don't know.
